Psychedelic
"Psychedelic" (2020) respectfully pays homage to Shane Sedlak’s stunning and inspiring pen-on-paper piece "Glubmerge" (2020), capturing the expansive, intricate realm of the mind. Like Sedlak's work, this illustration invites the viewer into a world where consciousness, thought, and emotion swirl together in an endless, undulating dance.
Using blue pen and fine line techniques, I set out to build a visual metaphor for the complexity and depth of mental landscapes. The creative process involved meticulous linework—layers of crosshatching and curved, interconnected forms—gradually expanding and evolving to evoke a sense of infinite space. The choice of blue ink brings a calm yet electric energy to the piece, enhancing the otherworldly feeling of navigating a personal, psychedelic journey through the mind.
Each swirling curve and interlocking shape serves as a reflection of inner thought processes, simultaneously chaotic and harmonious. Through this illustration, I aimed to capture the fluidity of the mind—a place of boundless imagination, where reality and abstraction coexist in perfect, beautiful tension.
